The sea was....aggravated. Things not to eat before a full days fishing. Gut busting proportions of Italian Gourmet food washed down with too
much wine.....but that is just a recommendation. Also, always call the bait guy the night before. Scattered weed starting from about 8-10 miles out.
We hunted down a few birds and got into schoolies that were less the the 20 inch limit. One school responded to our left over live baits while
another school turned up their collective noses. So the captain and crew resorted to employing all of the secret weapons that they know of like
playing the Johnny Cash CD too loud, screaming at the horizon and cursing the wire line. Then BAM !! the heretofore silent wire line screamed to
life as if on cue. The fish was peeling line, head shaking and generally ill mannered. Turns out to be a cuda roaming 15 miles off shore. Anyway it
was a good warm up and we pointed the Hat Time East bound and proceeded to get 20 miles off. More scattered weed, more looking at the sun,
until we happened upon some birds and a small yet legal dolphin climbed aboard the "special" lure. As some storms approached from the East,
we spotted a diving war bird and the wire sounded off again with a nice dolphin. We ducked into the marina just ahead of the lightening and
another enjoyable day on the Hat Time was in the books.
